"The World is Just Awesome"

This is the new "theme" for the discovery channel. I watch this channel on a regular basis (my husband has a thing or two to do with this). I find in design we look to nature, animals, people, cultures, and things in this world to inspire us and give us new, fresh ideas. So I dedicate this post to the world and all the beautiful things God put in it...after all, "it's just awesome".

"I love the ghost chair, I love antique things, I love cooking almost anything...boomdiata, boomdiata, boomdiata, boomdiata." I think I should have had a part in this commercial.

Miley "you can't always feel perfect"

The new photos of Miley Cyrus ' house are featured in the upcoming issue of InStyle on stands Friday...looks promising. I love LA style.
photo from people.com

The best quote from the article..."I told my mom, 'I'm not buying another magazine until I can get past this thought of looking like the girl on the cover.' She said, 'Miley you are that girl, and I was like, 'I know, but I don't feel like that girl every day.' You can't always feel perfect."

umm, hello nobody is that girl, it's just photoshop!!

...and (according to Habitually Chic) the new issue of Domino will feature a spread on Kaite Lee & Billy Joel's West Village town home. Ever since I saw her and her home (decorated by the wonderful Nate Berkus) I fell in love. The place is gorgeous and so livable, not to mention the amazingly beautiful (and expensive) dressing room outfitted with gold-leaf wall covering that cost a whopping $25,000.00!! I'll admit I can become a stalker when I want to find some more great interior shots of someone's home, I have been searching the Nate Berkus website like a mad women trying to see more photos of her house (he really should label the photos-at least by their location so I could know if I'm on the right track). Below are the only two shots I know are hers - and I'm obsessed, I want that tub and the chandelier!! So who cares if she married a man so much older than her she's fun, chic, and love's to cook and I cannot wait for this issue!

Kaufmann House

Remember the fabulous J.Crew shot of the Kaufmann House? According to The Los Angeles Times the famous house just sold for a whopping $16.84 Million. The 1946 Palm Springs house designed by Richard Neutra was sold at the Christie's Post-War and Contemporary Art Auction held on May 13th in NYC. This was the highest price of the American modernist houses recently sold as architectural collectibles. Not too shabby. I'm not a fan of modern but the whole design of the space and furniture was executed perfectly!

A fabulous pergola from the pergola queen herself

This months NY Mag dedicated to design included several homes throughout the tri-state area. My favorite included the newly designed upper eastside backyard from Charlotte Moss’ very own home. I love her mission statement for the project...“I needed an outdoor room. I wanted to have that little bit of Bel Air”…a little bit of Bel Air in New York sounds great to me, only a woman like her could say that AND make it come true!Moss created a beautiful fireplace that lines up with the entrance-hall gallery as you enter the house,”when you come in, the fire is going; it just pulls you out there”. Doesn’t that sound lovely!
What beautiful details! To read more on this article click here.

Every designer needs a cocktail...

I finally tried the "skinny-girl margarita" if you have watched any episodes of The Real Housewives of NYC you will know exactly what I am talking about(yes I watch this show and LOVE it! Maybe because of the drama or maybe because it's in New York, either way it's guilty entertainment). Bethenny (aka the skinny/natural foods chef on the show) ordered several skinny-girl margaritas throughout the series. I am from Dallas so I love margarita's however many restaurants in NYC have not mastered this recipe plus most margaritas are filled with calories so you must pick and choose when to order one. This recipe is delicious and tastes almost just like a real margarita. Here is the now famous recipe for a skinny-girl margarita on the rocks from Bethenny...
-2 quick pours (2 oz) of white 100% Agave Tequila, (Patron Silver)
-a splash of Cointreau
-a splash of lime juice
-lots of ice
or click here for the frozen version.
Thanks Bethenny, can't wait to try more "skinny-girl" recipes!
