A little bit of Charlotte

I have been dying to take a peek into the beautiful townhouse of Charlotte Moss. I finally had the chance to stop in and her shop is incredible; it's like stepping into someone's home and seeing how they live. She has definitely added new furniture and rearranged several pieces from her images of the house she has posted online. So if you are in the neighborhood stop by I promise you will love it! Sorry for no photos, I would have had the perfect opportunities to get some great shots too! Don't worry I'll be back soon and will hopefully get to snap a few then. In the meantime, here are some great shots I was able to get of a friend of a friends house. It's a 5 story town home (or would this be brownstone-not sure) some of the photos are a little blurry because I was trying to go quick and unnoticed.

Everything in the house has been restored to it's original architecture. Fun Facts: Overall the house had 5 kitchens (one on each floor, even in the child's playroom) and was purchased for about $200,000 in the 70's. Now it is worth $15,000,000. It has also been published in several design books and magazines including Architectural Digest!

Also, Charlottes Moss's new book "A Flair for Living" will be available in May but you can pre-order your book now. Yeah, another great read + a beautiful coffee table book.

Nancy Corzine

I have always been a fan of Nancy Corzine. From the moment I was introduced to her pieces I was in love - her name alone means luxury! The furniture she selects for showrooms are exquisite pieces and look so rich and elegant. Recently she was able to open her first showroom in Palm Beach. Here are a few images from the beautiful showroom. (I think this is my dream scheme for my house I might have one day, unfortunately I love kids more so I'm not sure the "white" interiors will work...Maybe beautiful crypton will be invented by then!)

I've always loved Benjamin Moore, but now...

If you don't know how to paint, don't fear...Aura is the new paint by Benjamin Moore and is one of the greatest paints ever made. With it's "color - locking" technology you can paint almost any room with one coat and no primer!! That's right, which I love because A. I majored in interior design, not painting and B. It makes painting your apartment super easy. The other great advantage is that you don't have to paint with a wet edge, in other words you can do as many touch-ups as you need, and no one will know the difference (this has always been an issue that could never be resolved until now)! BM also launched a new line of colors specifically for this paint (I guess they were pretty proud of it)...I've been told you can pull any three colors out of the new fan deck, and they will all work together! I've used this product myself and believe me it is well worth it. It's a little pricier than most paints (about $60.00 a gallon) but this is basically what you would spend on paint, primer, and your precious time. Ok, enough of me being a sells woman...just try it, I promise you will love it!

(If you have any questions...ask me more. I had to sit through an hour long seminar on this about a year ago right before it came out, at least it helped me in the long run)

"Green" is the new Black!

I hate to jump on the band-waggon...but, for the last few years all I have heard in commercial design is "green" and "sustainable" and now it is finally hitting the general market. Here are some Eco-Friendly products by some big names and little ones.

A sustainable rug from PotteryBarn.

Organic Pleated Bedding
from West Elm and considered green because of the process used to make it.
This is the bedding I have in my apartment that I went through hell to get when it first came out.....it was sold out for two months online and the store! Luckily I knew of a few stores who would definitely not be sold out and went through them!

Do you have your cute grocery bag yet? Whole Foods is getting rid of plastic bags on Earth Day 2008.

I love Shaklee!!! I'm sort of a nerd who is really into vitamins and my health. Shaklee sells vitamins, make-up, food supplements, and cleaning products. They just released a new updated version of some of their greatest cleaning products. The Scour Off is by far the best product ever created. I swear it will clean anything!!

Environment Furniture They use old wood to make their products. The end results are beautiful modern pieces at a great price.

David Jimenez

I am extremly picky when it comes to residential design so it is not too often that I come across a designer that accomplishes what I look for. I love interiors that can be lived in but also look like they came straight out of a top design magazine - accomplishing this is a difficult task and I find few designers are able to complete a room that is crisp, clean, well-designed, and uses the space effiently (not to mention looks like they didn't spend a fortune - Anyone can do an incredible interior with an unlimited budget). David Jimenez does just that. Below are a few photos from his portfolio.

If I didn't know any better I would have said the last four photos were from a Wearstler project. Thank you House & Life for introducing me to him!

Here comes the bride...

After 4 months I am finally getting around to ordering my wedding photos. A few just came in and they look amazing...I really did have the wedding of my dreams and it came out more beautiful then I could have imagined. The reception was at the DMA (Dallas Museum of Art) Here are a few of my favorite abstract photos...

p.s. My dress was Melissa Sweet and had dots!

Thank you F8 Studio you are amazing and incredibly talented!

And thank you Stacy from The Wildflower! You were so patient and great to work with. Everything was just perfect!...did you ever think you would hear that from me?;)

TO Zebra or NOT to Zebra...

Is it so bad if I want a real zebra rug? I found a beautiful one at a flea market and just couldn't decide what to do. I hate impulse buys but I usually know if I like something when I see it, so when I pass something great up, then I end up thinking about it the rest of the week (which is what I'm doing now). I know they have beautiful "fakes" that look just great but it seems like they would be a nightmare to keep clean, especially in a ny apartment. Someone has to buy the rug I saw at the flea market, right? Here are my other alternatives...

Maybe I'll settle for Williams-Sonoma.

Jo Malone

I am super picky when it comes to perfume. It takes me forever to find one I like. I am currently in this process and it is driving me nuts. It seems every fragrance I try reminds me of something or someone until now...Last week I went to a lovely event at Jo Malone. I never realized how amazing her fragrances were until I was in the store surrounded by candles and perfumes. I am in love with the Blue Agava and Cacao but haven't decided on a final one. Either way her packaging is too pretty to pass up!
